The refurbished Rajmahal Palace, a private residence of Jaipur’s royal family turned boutique hotel, is as dazzling as the guests—Jackie Kennedy and Princess Diana among them—who have stayed over the years. The palette is intense—cobalt, fuschia—but the feel is warm and inviting.

We like: the lavender- and-silver Resident’s Suite.

Drawback: not our favorite location.
